Admittedly, my memory’s not what it used to be so I stand on shaky ground if I don’t recall if any Journal Reader Input letters were published about the cross being mounted atop the belfry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Dec. 19, 2013 front page in full, living color. Why, heck, for all I know I may have sent in a letter myself and cannot remember if it was published or not.
Where was I? Oh? Seriously, my having been a hands-on roofer for 12 years and a local roofing contractor for 24 years had for me when seeing it a much more personal manifestation.
Like, I was right up there as one of the crew and loving it every moment. Well, would you believe clinging on with every sinew, muscle and appendage on my body and wishing I had more lots more?
Readers, the photograph in mind of itself was so very incredibly awesome that perhaps the ring circling the cross may not have appeared so significant by comparison due to the overall marvel of its entirety.
However, to Arturo Ojeda moving it onto and yes, into his shoulder, as he inched his way up the 40-foot aluminum ladder — his very life was in the balance and dependent on each and every rung up.
Bravo, Arturo!
